Villa Park Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fundraiser
On Thursday, March 6th, The Villa Park Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Scholarship Fundraiser Breakfast Buffet. The event will be hosted by Willowbrook High School, 1250 S. Ardmore Avenue, in Villa Park. (Park in the South Lot, and enter through Door 4.) Doors open at 8:00 AM. The cost is a donation of $25 per person. App Competition for High School Students
Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth has announced the 8th District’s participation in the U.S. House STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Competition. To get students ready for the challenge, there will be an Informational Session on Saturday, February 22nd, from 2-4PM at the Arlington Heights Library.
The House STEM App Challenge begins February 1st. This competition is designed to engage student creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields. This is a nationwide competition that allows students from across the country to create and exhibit their software application for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

President’s Day Visit at College of DuPage
On Monday, February 17th, College of DuPage is hosting a visit to its campus to let prospective students know more about the school. Doors open at 9:30AM and the presentation begins at 10:30AM in McAninch Arts Center (MAC), Performance Hall. Call 630-942-2380 if you have any questions regarding this event.
Expanded access to e-books through the eRead Illinois Program
The Villa Park Public Library, beginning January 10, substantially increased the amount of available eBooks through a new digital media platform Axis 360.
The Library is participating in the eRead Illinois Program, designed to increase access to e-books across Illinois. In the past, the Library has provided ebook access through My Media Mall and will continue to offer these books to patrons.
Axis 360 provides libraries and their patrons with a state-of-the-art system for circulating digital e-books from the eRead Illinois shared collection for Illinois libraries. Patrons at libraries participating in eRead Illinois will use the cloud-based delivery across a number of devices including iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows, NOOK® and Sony ReaderTM devices, and many more.
