Reference Librarian

Hours/week: 37.5
Salary: $35,500 / year
Description:

The Villa Park Public Library seeks a full-time Reference Librarian. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, service-oriented person with a good sense of humor. Responsibilities include reference, collection development, interlibrary loan, and Internet instruction and training. Hours to include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct assistance to patrons of all ages regarding use of library materials, equipment, and services.
  • Using interlibrary loan or other appropriate referrals to aid and direct patrons.
  • Using current and developing technologies including shared databases and circulation systems to organize and locate library materials.
  • Selecting and withdrawing materials within assigned areas of responsibility.

ALA/MLS required.

Youth and Teen Services Librarian

Hours/week: 37.5 hour/week
Salary: starting at $35,000 depending on qualificatio
Description:

The Villa Park Public Library is seeking a full-time Youth and Teen Services Librarian. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative librarian to develop programming and outreach services to youth and teen patrons. Responsibilities include reference, interlibrary loan, and Internet instruction and training. Hours will include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct assistance to patrons of all ages regarding use of library materials, equipment, and services.
  • Developing and coordinating resources and services to meet the informational and recreational needs of teens and young adults.
  • Initiating, planning, and conducting a variety of programs and activities to encourage the use of the library by young adults in grades 6 to 12, including but not limited to films and special events, reading clubs, and school and community outreach.
  • Creating and producing support materials for programs.
  • Cultivating and maintaining outreach services to youth, caregivers, schools, and the community.

ALA-accredited MLS required. Bilingual ability preferred. Must have knowledge of current information technology, internet, and database searching. Proficiency in MS Office products required. Experience working with young adults (grades 6 to 12) is preferred.

Salary: starting at $8.78 per hour
Description:

Must be 16 or older and be available to work a flexible schedule with approximately 9-15 hours a week. Hours include afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts.
