Public Services Assistant in Youth Services

Hours/week: 14.75 hours a week (29.5 hours biweekly)
Salary: $11.50 / hour, depending on qualifications
Description:

The Villa Park Public Library seeks a versatile, service-oriented person to become our new Public Services Assistant in Youth Services. We are looking for someone who is energetic, organized, and excited about working with youth.

The job includes assisting with programs for young children and families, and working at our Information Desk. Typical desk duties include answering reference questions and providing computer support and/or troubleshooting.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in education, business, or who have previous work experience with children and families.

This position averages 14.75 hours a week (29.5 hours per biweekly pay period). The position requires the following shifts every week: on Wednesdays from 12-5 pm; and on Thursdays from 1-9 pm. There is also one (1) shift every fourth week from 9 am-5 pm on Saturdays and one (1) shift every fourth week from 1-5 pm on Sundays. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, there are no Sunday shifts.

Public Services Librarian

Hours/week: averages 19.68 hours a week
Salary: $16.25/ hour, depending on qualifications
Description:

The Villa Park Public Library seeks a versatile, service-oriented person to become our new Public Services Librarian. We are looking for someone who is energetic, organized, and excited about working with patrons of all ages.

The job requires creativity and flexibility. Duties include planning and conducting programs for young children and families, and working at our Information Desks. Typical desk duties are answering reference and readers' advisory questions, and providing computer support/troubleshooting.

Candidates must have a Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited college or university. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in education, business, or who have previous work experience with children and families.

This position averages 19.68 hours a week and requires the following shifts every week: every other Monday, 4:30-9 pm; Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:00-9:00 pm; and Fridays, 12:30-5:00 pm.There is also one shift every fourth week on Saturdays, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and one shift every fourth week on Sundays, 1:00-5:00 pm. There are no Sunday shifts between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
